Mission Pie is a business that promotes fairness, creating opportunities for its employees, patrons, and local residents. Far exceeding today’s greenwashed version of sustainability, Mission Pie enriches its community. The company not only recycles, composts, and sources from local farms, but it educates its customers about the power of local food and seasonal eating. In addition, Mission Pie helps local youth build job skills. Last year, Mission Pie’s founders Karen and Kristin asked Distill to create printed tools to communicate the company’s goals. We developed a series of postcards  telling the Mission Pie story and fostering a conversation about sustainability. This spring, we further developed Mission Pie’s communications program, launching a new website that concretizes the company’s community involvement. The site updates users about special events and volunteer programs, lists the company’s food sources, and highlights rotating menus.
